Scholarship Opportunities from Congressman David Scott

Democratic Congressman David Scott on Tuesday announced that applications for the 2007 Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Education Scholarship are available in his District offices and online at www.cbcfinc.org. "I am pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for deserving 13th District students through the CBC Spouses Education Fund," said Scott. "This scholarship presents a wonderful opportunity to expand educational resources available for a new generation of leaders from our community." The scholarship is offered to students in the 13th Congressional District, which includes most of Clayton, and parts of Henry, Douglas, Cobb and others. To be eligible for scholarship program, student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5, have a letter of acceptance into an undergraduate or graduate program, two letters of recommendation and meet other requirements. All applications must be delivered or postmarked by Tuesday, May 1 to Scott's District office, 173 N. Main St., Jonesboro, Ga., 30236. The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship Fund was established in 1988 in response to federal cuts in spending for education programs and scholarships, Scott's office said in a news release. The program provides tuition assistance to enable students to fulfill their higher education goals.
